Deaxo Croes supports Fundacion CORESA with 'Crossing for Prevention'

On November 19, 2022, local athlete Deaxo Croes will perform the first unattended solo swim from Bonaire to Curacao.

Deaxo Croes will be the first person to swim 53 km from the Red Slave coast of Bonaire all the way to the East Coast of Curaçao. This challenge is something that Deaxo has been preparing for since 2020, by taking part in 3 separate trainings that allowed him to identify the obstacles he might encounter during his swim. All of his trainings were a complete success, which means he is ready for the real deal on November 19, 2022.

Crossing for Prevention is a direct reference to Deaxo's previous event, Crossing for Hope, which took place on November 11, 2018. During Crossing for Hope, Deaxo swam from Venezuela to Aruba together with 4 other athletes. This grand event for a great cause raised a total of AWG 123,000 for Wilhelmina Kankerfonds.

This time he is going even further and is expanding his efforts to include the prevention of cancer to benefit 3 foundations; 1 foundation on each sister island from the ABC islands. The funds that are raised during Crossing for Prevention will be divided between Kankerfonds Bonaire, Caribbean Prevention Center in Curaçao, and Fundacion CORESA in Aruba. All donations received will be sent directly to the bank accounts of each foundation.

More information regarding this event is available on the official website, www.crossingforprevention.com, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
